The Annual Summer Genealogy Workshop 2009

June 20th 2009:

The Central Texas Area Museum announces its annual Genealogy Workshop on Saturday, June 20th, 2009. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.and the program commences promptly at 10:00 a.m.

 

Morning Session: 9:30am - 10:00am Registration and light refreshments

10:00am - 10:25am Linda Cawthon will be speaking on the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She will cover a brief history of the organization and give the qualifications for joining.

10:25am - 10:30am Brief Break

10:30am - 10:55am Tom Green will be talking about the Sons of the Republic of Texas. He will give a short history of the organization and the qualifications for joining.

10:55am - 11:00am Brief Break

11:00am - 11:55am John Snelson will be telling on how to publish a family history. He will cover collecting, saving and printing family histories. John has successfully published one of his families histories and is working on other family histories.

Afternoon Session: 1:15pm - 1:30pm Registration

1:30pm - 3:00pm Crystal Calbreath and Joy Dunaway will be showing people with limited or no experience the Basics in gathering and recording their family history. People attending are strongly encouraged to bring any old photos, stories, and data showing names, births, marriage, death records and places where events occurred for their family members. There will be handouts with hints for asking family members to relate their memories and how to find other information. For those who are not beginners, there will be a refresher course possibly in the seminar held next summer.
