The Annual Summer Genealogy Workshop 2008

July 19th 2008:

Central Texas Area Museum announces its annual Genealogy Workshop on Saturday, July 19th, 2008. Registration begins at 9:30am and the program commences promptly at 10:00am. Lunch will be served and refreshments available throughout the day.

9:30 - 10:00 a.m. : Registration

10:00 a.m. : Brief Greeting and Welcome by Beth Rangell, CTAM Historian.

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. : "Probate: Bonanza or Bust" by Joy Dunaway, CTAM Librarian

11:00 - 12:00 p.m. : "You Name the War; I Have a Relative" by Crystal Calbrath, CTAM Member

12:00 - 1:00 p.m. : Lunch Break

1:00 - 2:00 p.m. : Question and Answer opportunity followed by a visit to the Central Texas Area Museum Library

The 2008 CTAM Genealogy Workshop will take place on Saturday, July 19th beginning at 9:30am at the Central Texas Area Museum's Scots' Hall of the Clans Auditorium located at 423 Main St., Salado, Tx. Registration is $20.00, which includes lunch and refreshments. Call (254) 947-5232 for further information or reservations.

Beth Rangel, Trustee and Historian of the Central Texas Area Museum, will open the workshop with the introduction of the speakers and give a brief summation of the genealogy session to be held in the Scots Hall of the Clans (museum auditorium) adjacent to the Museum proper. The Museum is located directly across the street from the Stagecoach Inn dining room. The fee for the session in $20.00 per person which includes refreshments and lunch.

Native Texan, Joy Dunaway, will open the session with "Probate: Bonanza or Bust". Joy will share what amazing information can and/or cannot be found in probate records. She has had a life-long passion for history and is a graduate of the University of North Texas where she has earned two degrees. She is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Western Cherokee Nation; Central Texas Area Museum where she is serving on the executive board as Librarian; the Dallas Genealogical Society where she has served on the board fro 2 years; and, is a member of Clan Donnachaidh (Robertson). She is speaker/lecturer at genealogy workshops throughout the State and has been conducting workshops for years.

Crystal Calbrath, who describes herself as a "Second Generation Army Brat", will present her talk on "You Name the War; I Have a Relative". She is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. She is a longtime member, volunteer, and newly elected Board member of the Central Texas Area Museum; a long time member of the East Bell County Genealogical Society where she has served as newspaper editor; and, is a member of Clan Campbell/Galbraith. Crystal has traveled extensively in her quest to visit military sites. She has 15 years experience in genealogy research with an emphasis in military records.
