June 26th 2010:

The Central Texas Area Museum announces its annual Genealogy Workshop on Saturday, June 26th, 2010. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the program commences promptly at 9:00 a.m.

8:00am - 9:00am - REGISTRATION - Coffee, Greet and Meet.

9:00am - 9:50am - BACK TO BASICS- CTAM Librarian Joy Dunaway will outline the Basic Procedures for Beginning Family History Research, along with a review of Basic Research Forms used to record your findings.

10:05am - 11:00am - GO WEST YOUNG MAN (& WOMAN) - Writer Lois Rogers takes you along the various routes from the Atlantic to the Pacific
as you track your ancestors on their journey across the “New World”

11:15am - 12:00pm - GRANDMOTHER HAD NO BIRTH CERTIFICATE - CTAM Historian Crystal Calbreath discusses the pitfalls in obtaining Vital Records
caused by the expansion West as Territories become States and County Lines are redefined.

12:00pm - 1:00pm - LUNCH - Enjoy our Buffet Lunch.

1:00pm - 1:50pm - TURNER, TEXAS RANGER - Meet the Granddaughter of a True Texas Ranger as CTAM Executive Board member
Beth Rangel introduces Texas Ranger James C. Turner Company B of the Frontier Battalion.

2:00pm - 2:50pm - ALTERNATIVES TO THE US CENSUS - Joy Dunaway presents Alternate Census Reports available for research, including the
Agricultural Census and the various State Census Reports that can be found.

3:00pm - 3:45pm - ARMCHAIR TRAVELER - Crystal Calbreath will show you how to “harness” the information available from the
various State Tourism Departments, including free maps, brochures, and contact information.
