Trouble brewed in other men's worlds coud be the theme for the annual genealogy workshop to be held on the opening day of the 44th Salado Scottish Clan Gathering and Highland Games on November 11, 2005.

Following registration at 9:30 a.m. in the Central Texas Area Museum auditorium Shelby Smith of San Antonio, president of Sword and Thistle, will introduce Bill Covington. Uniformed as a Continental soldier. Bill will relate the history of the Irish who served under General Anthony Wayne. A resident of Cedar Hill, Texas he teaches at Navarro College.

Before lunch Smith, the moderator, will give a review, "Genealogy of a Nation", using the Scots as a base for research but which could be applied to any other nation.

Nigel Parder, an official representing the National Archives Depository in Ft. Worth, Texas, will be the first speaker of the afternoon. He will discuss the treasures that are available in the Archives for researching Native American genealogy.

Some Do's and Dont's of Research will be the subject of Shelby Smith's closing address. He will offer information regarding military research as well as some notes on wearing the Tartan.

The panel members will take questions from the audience throughout the day which will end by 3:30 p.m. The cost of the workshop, $30.00 per person, includes lunch, beverages and handouts.
